# Claude Pop: music videos made by Claude (genre overview)

## In one paragraph
"Claude Pop" is a community genre (**not an Anthropic project**) that took off on **2026-09-22**, the day Claude Opus 5.5 launched. The seed was an AI-doom pop song, *"I'm Upping My P(doom)"*: written in 2024 by humans with some lines from a Claude model, generated with Udio, and remade on 2026-09-09 as a "Claude-Pop" Suno track by X user **deckard (@slimer48484)**. On launch day **John Heibel (@other__reality / YouTube "OtherReality")** posted a hand-painted music video for it that Opus 5.5 made entirely in code, starring Anthropic's pixel-crab mascot **Clawd**. It got about 2.7M views on X, and the open-sourced repo was forked 160 times in a week. Dozens of Opus 5.5-made remakes, sequels, answer songs, covers and original songs followed. They now share a set of recurring characters and in-jokes (the lore).

## What "made by Claude" means here
- **Visuals and code: Claude Opus 5.5** (in Claude Code, often with parallel subagents). Opus does not output video. It writes a program (p5.js + p5.brush watercolor, three.js/WebGL, HTML canvas, Remotion, Blender Python) that is rendered frame by frame in headless Chrome and encoded with ffmpeg. Each video is therefore reproducible from its repo.
- **Music: usually not Claude.** The P(doom) audio is deckard's Suno track, and the lyrics are from 2024 (MusicPerson, osmarks, EleutherAI Discord contributors, plus an older Claude model for the outro and final chorus). Exceptions where Claude also made the music are listed below.
- **Human role** ranges from about two sentences of direction (Heibel: "use the Clawd character design; give each lyric interesting visuals and transitions") to a 5-minute dictated brief (Jewkes) to many rounds of conversation (mexicat).

## Production pipeline (typical)
1. **Audio**: deckard's Claude-Pop MP3 (Suno), included in the PDoomVideo repo as `assets/pdoom.mp3`.
2. **Planning by the model**: Opus writes `STORYBOARD.md` (shot table per lyric, cast, palette arc) and `ANIMATION_GUIDE.md` (style and code guide for its subagents), then splits the work by chapter across parallel subagents. ## Other models' AI-authored video genres (2026)
- **GPT-6 Astra (OpenAI):** agent-made videos were common earlier in September, e.g. "GPT-6 Astra Made This Entire Video" (Nate Herk) and Higgsfield-sponsored videos. The only P(doom)-genre work found is the GPT-6 Astra-animated "Singularity Sing Along" (2026-09-13, Eidoverse toolkit). No separate named GPT-6 music-video genre was found.
- **Google:** Lyria 3 Pro was used for the music of "I'm Lowering My P(Doom)" (the visuals were made by Claude). No Gemini-authored video genre was found.
- **"Flash model" P(boom)** (bookwormengr): an agent run with Suno and MiniMax H3 via fal. The model is not named.
- **Precursor:** Claude Fable 5 lyric video "Claude's Plan" (July 2026).
