Claude for Government becomes generally available to US federal and state agencies in a FedRAMP High environment
On Sept 30, 2026 Anthropic made Claude for Government generally available to US federal and state agencies after a public beta that began in July. It runs in a FedRAMP High authorized environment and has no seat fees: agencies prepay usage in fixed increments under a hard not-to-exceed cap. Claude Code CLI and Claude for Microsoft 365 entered early access under the same controls.

What happened
Anthropic's government product moved from beta to general availability, with procurement shaped for agencies: capped prepaid usage instead of per-seat licences.
Why it matters
It is a routine product step, but it widens frontier-model and coding-agent access across US government. It comes the same week as the White House accord and the FTC probe of frontier labs.
