Post-Cutoff (postcutoff.com) is a free, read-only website. You can use it without an account and without giving us any personal data. This page explains the little we do collect, why, and what your rights are.
Who is responsible (controller)
ThisAPI Adam Bicz, pl. Solny 14, 50-062 Wrocław, Poland NIP (tax ID): 8992544597 · REGON: 365564398 Contact for anything privacy-related: contact@postcutoff.com
What we collect and why
1. Analytics, only if you click "Accept"
We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to count visits and see which pages are useful. Until you accept, analytics cookies are not set (Google Consent Mode v2: analytics storage "denied" by default; ad storage, ad user data and ad personalisation are always "denied"). Google may still receive a cookieless ping without identifiers so the tag knows consent is pending.
If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies (_ga, _ga_<id>) and processes: pages viewed, time and referrer, approximate location (country/city derived from IP; Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses), device, browser and screen data.
- Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; Art. 399 of the Polish Electronic Communications Law). You can withdraw it at any time via "Cookie settings" in the page footer; this does not affect processing before withdrawal.
- Recipient: Google Ireland Limited (processor). Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA, which is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
- Retention: event-level data 2 months and user-level data 14 months (Google Analytics data-retention settings), then deleted by Google. Aggregated reports without identifiers may be kept longer.
- We don't use advertising, remarketing or Google Signals, and we don't sell data.
2. Hosting and security (all visitors)
The site is served by Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.), which processes your IP address and technical request data (time, URL, browser) to deliver the pages and protect them from attacks. Fonts and scripts are served from our own domain, so your browser does not contact Google Fonts or other code hosts.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Recipient: Cloudflare (processor); transfers covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Retention: short-lived security and performance logs kept by Cloudflare according to its own retention periods; we don't keep separate access logs.
3. Video playback
Videos are shown as thumbnails stored on our own server. Only when you click play does the page load the player from youtube-nocookie.com (YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode), and YouTube then processes data under its own policy. Links to X, YouTube and other sites open those sites, whose privacy policies apply.
4. Settings stored in your browser
The site stores a few preferences in your browser's local storage: your cookie choice (pc_consent) and view settings (selected cutoff, tab, importance filter and time range). They stay on your device, are not sent to us, and you can clear them in your browser at any time.
- Legal basis: strictly necessary to provide the function you used (no consent required).
5. Email
If you write to contact@postcutoff.com, we process your address and message to reply. Email is hosted by GoDaddy (processor).
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Retention: as long as needed for the conversation, then up to 12 months.
6. People named on the site (public figures)
Our entries name people who play a public role in AI and technology: researchers, executives, officials, writers and creators. People pages (/person/…) collect, for each such person: name, current professional role and organisation, public role changes, links to their public accounts (for example X, a personal website, Wikipedia), and links to the entries, posts and videos on this site that mention them. We use only information the person or reliable outlets have already made public, always with a source, and never private details such as home address, family, health or private accounts. We also keep an internal, non-public index of names that appear in our sourced entries, so we can avoid duplicates and keep facts consistent.
- Source of the data: public sources (news reports, official websites and announcements, the person's own public posts) (Art. 14 GDPR).
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in documenting and informing the public about developments in AI (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), together with freedom of expression and information, including journalistic purposes (Art. 85 GDPR; Art. 2 of the Polish Act of 10 May 2018 on the Protection of Personal Data).
- Retention: for as long as the information is part of the public record of AI that the site documents. Outdated roles stay in the role history with their date.
- Your rights: if you are named on the site you can ask us to correct your data, or object to its processing, by writing to contact@postcutoff.com. We will review the request promptly and, where your interests outweigh the public interest in the information, remove or limit it.
What we don't do
No accounts, no newsletters, no comment or contact forms, no advertising, no profiling of visitors or automated decisions with legal effects, and no sale of data.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to: access your data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and withdraw consent at any time. Write to contact@postcutoff.com. Note that we usually cannot identify you from analytics data alone.
You can also lodge a complaint with the Polish supervisory authority: Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych (PUODO), ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warszawa, uodo.gov.pl.
Children
The site is not aimed at children under 16.
