Anthropic launches Claude Frontier Academy: $100M to train 10,000 'Frontier Deployed Engineers' by end of 2027

★★★after cutoffbusinessAnthropicconfidence: high

On Oct 2, 2026 Anthropic announced the Claude Frontier Academy, a $100M program to train 10,000 enterprise "Frontier Deployed Engineers" (FDEs) by the end of 2027. It follows a medical-residency model: in-person training, a graded assessment and then a 12-week residency leading a real Claude project. Launch partners include Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, Novo Nordisk and Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

Key facts

What happened

Anthropic announced a $100M academy to train engineers inside client companies and consultancies to deploy Claude agents, borrowing the "forward-deployed engineer" model that Palantir popularized and that frontier labs have used for their own enterprise teams. Steve Corfield, Anthropic's global head of business development, said "a small team of high-agency people with the right skills ... can transform an entire company."

Why it matters

The bottleneck for enterprise AI revenue is increasingly deployment skill, not model capability. By certifying FDEs at the big consultancies and banks, Anthropic scales its go-to-market without hiring them itself, weeks before its planned IPO.
