Meta launches Muse Gadgets: open-source ESP32 firmware and a Linux SDK for building hardware that runs its Muse agent, plus a free 'Home Link' dongle
On Oct 2, 2026 Meta Superintelligence Labs announced Muse Gadgets, open-source ESP32 firmware and a Linux SDK that let anyone build hardware devices (e-ink displays, TV dongles, Raspberry Pi 5 projects) that work with its personal agent Muse. Meta also made 5,000 "Muse Home Link" USB-C dongles that let Muse control devices on the home network, free for Muse subscribers.

What happened
Meta opened its Muse agent to hobbyist hardware. Builders flash ESP32 boards or use a Linux SDK to make devices that display or talk to their Muse, and Meta shipped its own reference gadget, the Home Link, to connect Muse to home networks.
Why it matters
After its Muse Charm pocket device at Connect, Meta is pushing Muse into physical devices through an open-source maker ecosystem rather than only its own hardware. This is a distinctive move in the race to make personal agents ambient. (Separately, MBI Deep Dives argued on Oct 2 that Meta may never need ads to monetize Muse.)
