Brett Adcock's Hark launches Hark Pro, a free personal AI agent, a year before its first devices
On Oct 6, 2026 Hark, the AI lab Figure CEO Brett Adcock founded in late 2025, released Hark Pro for iOS, Android and the web. It is a free personal agent, with paid tiers at $20 and $100 a month for 2x and 10x usage. Hark Pro remembers the user, suggests tasks on its own and carries them out in a cloud browser driven by Hark's own Handoff computer-use model. Logins and cards are kept in an encrypted "Secured by Hark" vault. Hark's first AI-native device is due in 2027. The launch came four weeks after Meta's Muse agent, which has the same price ladder.
Key facts
- Released 2026-10-06 as Hark Pro, an iOS, Android and web app 'available today, for free, to everyone' (Hark); App Store publisher: Hark Labs Inc.
- Pricing: all features free; $20/month for 2x usage (Hark Pro²) and $100/month for 10x usage (Hark Pro³); TNW notes Meta's Muse uses the same free/$20/$100 ladder
- Agent: Handoff, Hark's computer-use model, runs on Hark's own cloud computer, drives up to 6 browsers at once and logs in to sites for the user; Google and Outlook connect via APIs, other sources via MCP
- Features: memory (it forgets things on request), proactive suggestions, Projects, a Home screen with one-tap 'Action Buttons' (pay a bill, cancel a subscription) and user-made 'Panels' (mini-apps on services such as Strava, Netflix or ParentSquare); the agent's browsing is shown live in a small window
- Privacy claims: passwords and cards sit in the 'Secured by Hark' encrypted vault, which Hark says even it cannot see into; Hark asks for approval before actions that need it; its privacy policy says it does not sell personal data
- Models: Handoff is post-trained by Hark (base model not disclosed; pre-training planned for later in 2026); the privacy policy says parts of the service use unnamed third-party AI providers, which are contractually barred from training on user data
- Hardware: first AI-native device promised for 2027; AT&T invested in Hark and will provide cellular connectivity. Design head Abidur Chowdhury, a former Apple design lead on the iPhone Air, says 'we don't really believe in glasses with cameras or a pin you can wear' (TNW)
- Background: Adcock seeded Hark with $100M of his own money in late 2025. A $700M+ Series A at a $6B post-money valuation followed (announced 2026-05-20), led by Parkway Venture Capital, with NVIDIA, AMD Ventures, Intel Capital and Qualcomm Ventures among the investors; Hark then had about 70 staff
- Schedule: Hark had promised its platform 'by the end of summer' when it previewed Handoff on 2026-08-05
What happened
Hark, the "personal intelligence" lab that Figure AI CEO Brett Adcock started in late 2025, released its first product, Hark Pro, on Oct 6, 2026. Hark calls it "the operating system for your life". It is a messaging-style app for iOS, Android and the web that:
- remembers what the user tells it and what it learns about them;
- suggests things to do before being asked (examples: noticing that money on a student's lunch card is running out and, if allowed, topping it up; spotting that a trip has a booked flight but no hotel);
- carries out tasks on the web with Handoff, Hark's computer-use agent, which runs on its own cloud computer.
Every feature is free. Paid plans buy more usage: $20 a month (2x) or $100 a month (10x).
Privacy. Hark's pitch is about trust. Logins and payment cards go into "Secured by Hark", an encrypted vault that the company says even it cannot see into. Passwords stay encrypted "all the way from the vault to the website". Users watch the agent browse in a small window. Hark's head of design, Abidur Chowdhury, told TechCrunch: "we're not here to like sell you ads and steal your data". He described its profiling of users as "task-related".
Models. Hark has not named every model behind Hark Pro. Handoff is Hark's own model. Hark says it is "independently verified to be the most performant computer use model in the world", without naming the verifier in the launch post. At the August preview Hark said Handoff was post-trained on top of an unnamed base model, with pre-training planned for later in 2026. Hark reported that Handoff topped the Online-Mind2Web human evaluation leaderboard and on average beat GPT 5.4 and Opus 4.8 on three browser benchmarks (company-reported). Its privacy policy says parts of the service are "integrated with third-party AI platforms" that help generate responses. TechCrunch noted that a model trained specifically for computer use is faster and cheaper, but may trade away the broader knowledge of a frontier LLM.
Hardware. It is still unseen. Hark promises an AI-native device in 2027 that Chowdhury calls "a product that's never ever existed before". AT&T, which invested in August, will provide cellular connectivity. TNW notes that Hark has not said whether Hark Pro is available in Europe.
Before the launch, Hark:
- announced a $700M+ Series A at a $6B post-money valuation (May 20, 2026);
- previewed Handoff (Aug 5);
- signed a multi-year NVIDIA compute partnership on Vera Rubin (Aug 27).
The Fast Company design feature could not be read and was not used as a source.
Why it matters
Hark Pro arrives in a crowded month for consumer "do-it-for-me" agents: Meta's Muse (Sept 8, same price ladder), OpenAI's dots (Sept 29) and Instinct, which raised money at a $10B valuation on Sept 28. Hark competes on privacy (no ads, a vault it cannot read), on letting users watch the agent work, and on owning the whole stack: its own computer-use model now, and its own devices from 2027. Its performance claims are so far company-reported.
