Key facts
- Yuanqi: from Oct 29 no new agents or API keys; on Nov 9, 2026 app access, data reads and writes, API calls and the developer console are switched off (Pandaily, citing Tencent’s Oct 8 notice)
- Agents published from Yuanqi to WeChat Official Accounts, Service Accounts and WeChat Customer Service stop answering on Nov 9
- Data export: the export tool works until Nov 9; an export-only console stays open until Jan 9, 2027, after which user data is deleted (except legally required logs)
- Yuanqi was unveiled on May 17, 2024 at a Tencent Cloud generative-AI summit as a one-stop platform to create agents without code and distribute them to QQ, WeChat and Tencent Cloud
- QClaw (TechNode, Sept 24, citing Electronic Engineering Journal): registrations and subscriptions stopped Sept 24; service ends at midnight on Dec 24, 2026; backups downloadable until Mar 24, 2027; Tencent offers a migration path to WorkBuddy with points as an incentive
- Tencent gave no reason beyond ‘business adjustments’ for either closure and named no successor for Yuanqi’s distribution role
What happened
Tencent is closing two of its agent products within three months. Yuanqi let small businesses and creators build a chatbot with prompts, plugins and workflows and place it inside WeChat accounts. Operators that rely on such bots have about four weeks to rebuild them elsewhere. QClaw, an AI assistant, stopped taking new users on Sept 24 and closes on Dec 24.
Pandaily notes that Tencent’s agent work has moved toward products it runs itself, such as the WorkBuddy office agent and vertical agents inside its own apps. We did not find Tencent’s original notices; both closures are reported by trade press.
Why it matters
It shows a large platform retiring the 2024-era “build your own agent” store model in favour of first-party agents, and it removes a common way to run customer-service bots on WeChat.
