Spent more than 30 years at Boston Dynamics (VP of engineering, COO, then CEO from fall 2019) and took Spot, Stretch and the all-electric Atlas from research to commercial products; retired in February 2026.
Joined Boston Dynamics in 1994 and was VP of engineering, then COO, then CEO (The Robot Report, TechCrunch). As CEO he led its move from research lab to business: Spot launched commercially in 2020, then Stretch, and the production electric Atlas was shown at CES 2026. In his farewell memo he wrote that "a new CEO will bring the experience and energy required for this next phase" as the company prepares "to produce robots at mass scale".
