Nvidia unveils RTX Spark, a Windows-on-Arm ‘superchip’ for laptops and small desktops aimed at local AI agents
Confirmed
The takeaway
Nvidia pitched it as a PC “for the era of personal AI agents” and said laptops and compact desktops from ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft Surface and MSI would arrive in the fall.

Key facts
- Announced May 31, 2026 (Nvidia GeForce news post by Andrew Burnes, Computex 2026)
- Top configuration: 20-core Nvidia Grace (Arm) CPU linked over NVLink-C2C to a Blackwell RTX GPU with 6,144 CUDA cores and 5th-gen Tensor Cores with FP4; 128GB unified memory; up to 1 petaflop of AI compute (Nvidia)
- Silicon badged N1X; IEEE Spectrum describes it as a Windows version of the GB10 ‘superchip’ used in DGX Spark, built with MediaTek, with an NPU that qualifies it for Copilot+ certification
- Form factors: laptops as thin as 14 mm and as light as 3 lb (14–16 inch), plus small desktops; partners ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft Surface and MSI, with Acer and GIGABYTE later (Nvidia)
- Nvidia and Microsoft: ‘partnering to deliver a robust, secure Windows platform for on-device agents’; Nvidia OpenShell coming to Windows on Microsoft’s security primitives
- No prices at Computex; base Surface Laptop Ultra later shipped with a cut-down N1X (18-core CPU, 5,120-core GPU, 24GB), see Microsoft and Nvidia launch RTX Spark Windows PCs for local AI
What happened
Nvidia used Computex 2026 to bring its DGX Spark-class “superchip” to ordinary Windows PCs. RTX Spark combines an Arm CPU and a Blackwell GPU that share up to 128GB of memory, so that large AI models can run on a laptop or a small desktop instead of in a data centre. Nvidia framed the chip around personal AI agents: “a new class of computer that moves from tool to teammate”.
IEEE Spectrum noted that performance depends on how much power each PC maker allows (DGX Spark draws about 140 W) and estimated GPU performance near a mobile RTX 5070; that comparison is an estimate, not an independent test.
Why it matters
It is Nvidia’s entry into Windows laptop processors and the hardware behind the “local AI” push of autumn 2026: Microsoft’s Oct 7 Surface event, MXC agent sandboxing on Windows, and Nemotron 3.5 Bolt models sized for these machines.
