Around Sept 30, 2026 Bilibili's Index Team released Index-Translate, an Apache 2.0 translation model family built on Qwen3.5: 2B and 9B dense text models and a 35B-A3B MoE preview covering 150 languages with instruction following (glossaries, formatting, style), plus Index-Echo speech translation, Index-Homura syllable-controlled dubbing and Index-NativeLong document translation models.

Key facts

What happened

Bilibili's Index Team, which also makes the IndexTTS speech models, published Index-Translate, a family of translation models built on Alibaba's Qwen3.5. The text models cover 150 languages and accept translation instructions. Companion models handle speech-to-subtitle and speech-to-speech translation, dubbing (matching syllable counts) and long documents. Weights were released under Apache 2.0.

Why it matters

It is another open-weight Chinese model family built on Qwen. Its dubbing and syllable-control models target video localization, a use specific to platforms like Bilibili.
